CASC′S Efforts on Dealing With Space Debris Toward Long-term Space Sustainability

Space debris environment attracts world-wide concerns for the Kessler syndrome, or so-called “chain reaction”, which is to happen in the near future, even if there are no further launches from now on. Protecting the space environment is a hot topic and essential to long-term space sustainability. This paper reviews the efforts, on dealing with space debris toward the long-term space sustainability, made by China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC), including space debris measurements and modeling, space debris mitigation, and space debris protection.
